Yikes! Botox or Dysport DO NOT WORK ON ME Anymore! NOW WHAT???

This is a true story.

After using Botox and Dysport for over 14 years to care for frown lines and wrinkles, they no longer worked on me! I had such a wrinkled forehead and frown lines! I joined my mother in the aesthetics business about ten years ago. I should look as good as possible, correct? However, I was wondering what in the world I should do. I was freaking out! Jeuveau is an FDA-approved injectable neuromodulator for treating adults with mild to severe glabellar lines. Quite a mouthful, right? It is the brainchild of Evolus, a “performance beauty company with a customer-centric approach focused on delivering breakthrough products” founded in 2012.

At Laser Me, we have been watching Evolus and Jeuveau with interest for quite some time and are excited to have it for our patients!

Jeuveau treatment is a neuromodulator, a cousin of Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. It is for treating frown (or between-the-brows) lines and wrinkles on the forehead! Unlike some of its counterparts, Jeuveau currently has an aesthetic-only indication and is the only neuromodulator in the United States with this claim.

How does Jeuveau work?

Jeuveau interrupts the communication between a nerve ending and its target muscle. In this mechanism of action, Jeuveau works similarly to Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, the other 3 neuromodulators currently FDA-approved in the US for cosmetic purposes. Jeuveau is used to treat moderate to severe frown lines and the space between the eyebrows.

Is Jeuveau like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?

Jeuveau is very similar to Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin (a proprietary type of neuromodulator).

Is Jeuveau the same as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?

Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau are NOT the same, much like Coke and Pepsi are not the same–especially so in Atlanta! Even though these products work similarly and have similar components, their brands are separate and different.

Why should I choose Jeuveau over Botox or Dysport?

Choosing one type of neuromodulator over another is based on patient experience, aesthetic goals, and the physician’s experience and preference. Our injector has years of experience with Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau. Jeuveau adds another tool to the aesthetic toolbox.

Can I have Jeuveau if I have had Botox or Dysport injections?

Yes, you can have Jeuveau injected by our injector, even if you have had Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin treatments in the past.

What areas of the face can be treated with Jeuveau?

Jeuveau has been studied and shown to be effective in treating glabellar lines (the frown lines between the eyebrows, also known as the “11s”). Our injector employs this type of injectable medication to address the forehead, crow’s feet, kisser’s/smoker’s lines, frown lines, and neck bands.

Can other body parts be treated with Jeuveau?

Though it would be “off-label,” Jeuveau can be used to treat just about any place that Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin is used.

Is there downtime with Jeuveau?

There is relatively little downtime with Jeuveau treatment and similar medication. Most of our injector's patients return to work and social activities immediately after treatment–without evidence of treatment.

How long does it take for Jeuveau to show results?

Patients can see an improvement in lines and creases as early as 2-3 days. Most neuromodulators take up to 14 days to show 100% of the treatment result.

How long does Jeuveau last?

According to studies, Jeuveau lasts several months and boasts high patient satisfaction even at 5 months. Most patients will have anywhere from 3 to 6 months of clinical longevity.
