Emsculpt Neo is an investment, and it's important to ask a lot of questions before moving forward with a treatment series because we want to ensure you get the results you hoped for. So we've rounded up the most frequently asked questions from patients who come in for Emsculpt Neo.

WILL IT MAKE ME LOSE WEIGHT?

No. Fat reduction procedures, whether surgical or not, have minimal impact on the scale. You can have a decent amount of fat removed, and you'll look very different, trimmed, and thinner. However, you will not see a significant shift on the scale. The only ways to see significant changes on the scale are prolonged lifestyle changes in diet and exercise or surgical weight loss procedures. But it's important to distinguish between weight loss and fat loss procedures. Emsculpt Neo is the latter.

AM I TOO OLD FOR EMSCULPT NEO?

There is absolutely no age limit for people who can qualify for this treatment. Most people who get Emsculpt Neo do it for the aesthetic benefits of a flatter stomach and toned arms, legs, and buttocks. However, one of the main reasons Emsculpt Neo is so popular is how much it strengthens your core, and older patients benefit the most in this respect. As you age, core workouts may become difficult or impossible depending on your overall health, and the risk of injuring yourself while working out increases. Strengthen your core to reduce injuries and back pain; Emsculpt Neo will be helpful whether you want it for the visible benefits. Many patients reported feeling much better and stronger after Emsculpt Neo, and the fat reduction was just an added bonus. And speaking of fat reduction, Emsculpt Neo has a distinct edge here that even liposuction and CoolSculpting don't: it can reduce visceral (intra-abdominal) fat. This hardened fat works its way around your organs, leading to severe illnesses like heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, certain types of cancers, and stroke. So if you're dealing with a beer belly that comes with age and unhealthy eating habits in your youth, Emsculpt Neo can help eliminate it.

WILL I LOOK SKINNY IN JUST FOUR SESSIONS?

No. Emsculpt Neo is not intended for moderately or severely overweight patients. In fact, a maximum BMI of 38 is suggested for your baseline if you're hoping to get Emsculpt Neo. We err on the conservative side to ensure our patients' expectations are not only met but exceeded. Emsculpt Neo builds muscle and burns through mild to moderate pockets of fat. While you'll see a slight difference in your before and after photos after four sessions of Emsculpt Neo, you will need more than this to get thin.

DOES IT HURT?

It doesn't! Emsculpt Neo is surprisingly comfortable for a device that contracts muscles. A typical session goes like this: we'll turn on the device at a lower power percentage and see how you feel about it. As you ease into it, we will increase the power. After a few minutes, we usually have it up to 100%, and the sensation is intense but not painful. You might feel some heat too, and that's ok. It's the radio frequency (RF) heating up the fatty tissue to burn it off. But we will check on you frequently during the procedure and ensure that if anything is uncomfortable, it's adjusted immediately.

DO I SEE RESULTS QUICKLY?

With muscle mass, yes. Within 4-6 sessions, there will be noticeable changes in how your muscles feel, and they may be visibly apparent, too (it depends on how much subcutaneous fat you have in the treated area). If you have a layer of fat on your belly or arms, the fat tissue loss can take 2-3 months. So it's important to remember that while your muscles are quickly improved, it may still take time to see a considerable difference due to slower fat loss. And because it's such a gradual process, we highly recommend you check in to see your before and after progress with us so you can see the difference for yourself.

WILL IT BURN?

Heat is a standard part of Emsculpt Neo due to the RF, but it shouldn't burn. Your skin might look reddish after the treatment, but it's normal and nothing to be concerned about.

I GOT FOUR TREATMENTS—BUT CAN'T TELL IF IT MADE A DIFFERENCE!

Gradual results are usually preferred because patients don't want to look like they've had any work done, but sometimes it's so gradual that you may not notice a big difference yourself. Before and after photos are essential with non-invasive devices like this. Because most of what we do is non-surgical (and thus, more gradual), sometimes the difference is less noticeable. Since the minimum number of treatments we recommend is four, taking photos before your first series and about three months later is essential. Since it takes up to three months for the fat loss to reach its total result, this will be the ideal time to check your progress.

IS IT SIMILAR TO LIPOSUCTION?

No. It will not require any anesthesia or numbing, there will not be pain or recovery, no medications will be necessary, and it will not remove mass amounts of fat in one day. Liposuction results are dramatic, and those results come at a physical price. The results will be less affected with Emsculpt Neo, with up to 30% fat loss in the targeted area. However, Emsculpt Neo creates up to 25% more muscle mass in the targeted area—something liposuction can't accomplish. Emsculpt Neo has the added benefit of being an upgrade for your overall wellness and health, in addition to an aesthetic fat loss procedure.

CAN I GET IT IF I HAD LIPOSUCTION RECENTLY?

Since liposuction is such an invasive and extensive recovery, you may experience inflammation and discomfort for a few months following surgery. You are generally safe to get Emsculpt as early as 2-4 weeks after liposuction; however, listen to your body and get the treatment depending on how you feel. We also recommend you follow up with your surgeon to be sure you haven't experienced any complications from your liposuction that could prevent you from getting Emsculpt Neo.
